Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) USA now releases the details, specifications, and manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of the new 2008 Highlander Hybrid mid-size SUV that will roll out in Toyota dealer showrooms all over the U.S. this coming October.
As a hybrid model, the 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is equipped with Toyota's patented Hybrid Synergy Drive(TM). The 2008 Highlander Hybrid is equipped with a 3.3-liter V6 engine under its hood, featuring four-wheel drive with intelligence (4WD-i). This powertrain is capable of pumping out 270 horsepower and comes with a newly developed powertrain feature like the EV Mode, ECON Mode and Hybrid System Indicator. Do you know the show Brainiac? It's a show in the UK that basically puts to the test everyday 'science' stuff like testing how far a shopping cart will go if a tank of CO2 is attached to it. Hilarious!
Anyway, what caught my attention was this test they did on pheromones, a known aphrodisiac scent. The test included a very sexy woman who was blindfolded. She then had to 'smell' three men and decide who she wants to date that night. The goal of the test was to determine if indeed pheromones will work.
So first up was a really geeky looking guy, on whom the produces of the show sprayed pheromone scent on. The second guy was a midget who had on expensive aftershave cologne. The last guy was a sexy hunk(!) but he had to do some push ups and jumping jacks so that he gets the smell of 'sweat'.
So who do you think the blindfolded sexy woman chose as a date? The midget with the aftershave cologne!
Initially, you would think here that aphrodisiac scents don't work. If it did, then she should have chosen the guy with pheromones sprayed on him. But if you think about it a bit more... you realize that SCENT does influence how a woman reacts to you! She chose the midget because she can only smell the men. In the late 1970's, as more and more small and medium size businesses selling the same products and services I was selling opened in my market, I thought, "It cannot get any more competitive!" Aggressive Marketing - is how you get more customers in your front door, to call you or to accept your call.
Aggressive Selling - is how you get the customer to exchange their money for your products and services.
Professional Aggressive Marketing and Selling is NOT:
1. Lowering your selling prices.
2. Increasing your overall marketing costs.
3. Working more and more hours.
4. Becoming a loud, pushy, in your customer's face obnoxious seller.
Professional Aggressive Marketing and Selling IS:
1. Aggressively doing what the competition cannot or is not willing to do.
2. Daring to be different by differentiating yourself from the competition. Using marketing and selling techniques you are not now using,and using marketing and selling techniques your competition is not using.

One of the best explanations I ever heard of being professionally aggressive to solve a need or problem came from Reggie Jackson, the great home run hitter for the New York Yankees. During a keynote presentation when Reggie was the spokesman for Hitachi Electronics he told the audience how he became a great home run hitter, even though he was not a top-notch athlete, and how he always succeeded in everything he attempted, even though he was only of average intelligence and ability.

The story he told that evening was about how one of his duties as a young boy of 10 years old was to purchase his father a pint of Neapolitan ice cream (vanilla, chocolate and strawberry) every evening. Like yours, my customers are busy with driving the kids to and from school, the kid's social activities and their own clubs, meetings and social events, not to mention the hundreds of things they are doing to maintain a household, job and/or business. To save time your customer is a regular at fast food outlets, ATM banking, fast checkout lines, pay at pump gas stations and many, many more timesaving facilities. All this timesaving activity tells us the customer is telling the seller:

Jiffy Lube International, which offers a ten-minute oil change, has grown to over one thousand

patronize fast food restaurants, drive through banks, and drive through car washes.

Aggressively listen to your customers. Listen to what they want the product to do. Listen to their
problems they want solved. Tell them the benefits they will obtain from buying your product or
service. Tell them why they cannot live without your product or service.

Be aggressive with flexible options for them to pay by cash, finance, use charge cards or lay-a-way.
Have flexible delivery schedules to accommodate their schedule.

Aggressively do what you say you will do. Deliver on time. Make the paperwork easy.
Be easy to get in touch with. Give the good service you promise. For years the #1 Rule in Selling was: The one who solves the customer's needs and problems the easiest for them will get the sale.

One of the best explanations I ever heard of being professionally aggressive to solve a need or problem came from Reggie Jackson, the great home run hitter for the New York Yankees. During a keynote presentation when Reggie was the spokesman for Hitachi Electronics he told the audience how he became a great home run hitter, even though he was not a top-notch athlete, and how he always succeeded in everything he attempted, even though he was only of average intelligence and ability.
Reggie Jackson's father taught him to always be aggressive and practice W.I.T. Whatever it takes! The story he told that evening was about how one of his duties as a young boy of 10 years old was to purchase his father a pint of Neapolitan ice cream (vanilla, chocolate and strawberry) every evening. Make-up Bag De-Clutter
Take a good look at your make-up and the bag you keep it in. If they are not looking their perfect - that is to say if products are missing lids, brushes are matted and puffs & sponges are in need of a clean, if you have make-up in there that you haven't used in ages, then it's time to reassess and de-clutter your make-up bag. Even the appropriate, most expensive make-up won't look wonderful if it's past it's sell-by date. Or applied with dirty brushes, sponges and puffs. Worst yet these products could cause loads of problems that perhaps you weren't even aware of.
Initially if your actual make-up bag is looking grubby then either clean it or invest in a new one. Your new /clean make-up will only become contaminated if put into a dirty make-up bag. So give what ever make-up you love and want to keep a wipe before putting it back in. If you've got makeup brushes then keep them in optimum working condition by cleaning them regularly. Make-up artists invest in good brushes which with proper maintenance last for years, mine are over 10 years old and still look great and work beautifully. But if your brushes look more like a cat's chew toy then it's time to throw it away. Dirty, grubby brushes, sponges & puffs could be the reason your foundation, eye shadows, blushers and powders may not look as good as they could. It will cause your make-up to go on blotchy, uneven and discoloured. They could also be the main cause of some skin irritations, as a result of bacteria breeding on them. Skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, rashes and conjunctivitis can develop, become worst or constantly reoccur as a result of using dirty tools and products past there sell by date. The other problem that arises is you can sensitise your skin to any future products you buy.
I clean my 'working' brushes each time I use them but my own 'personal' brushes once every 3 to 4 weeks. Which is what I would suggest you do as well. Sponges and foundation brush really should be washed after each use. It's easy to clean your brushes, just wet the bristles thoroughly with warm water. Then wash them with what ever shampoo you use (as long as it's not a dandruff one). That way too you'll know that you clean your brushes with won't irritate your skin. Once they're debris free rinse them in lukewarm water until the water runs clear. Now gently squeeze out the excess water ( I find using paper towel works well). Reshape and lay flat on a paper towel to dry. I usually wash my brushes in the evening so that they're ready the next day. Alternatively you can invest in brush cleaner. These are now widely available.
Now for the actual makeup. You may have noticed an open jar label on your make-up, this means that once opened that product will be at its optimum appropriate for how ever many months it says. Once opened: - Mascara should be replaced after 3 or 4 months or sooner if it's lost it's 'pop' when opened. Remember not to pump your mascara, this pushes air into the tube making it dry out quicker. Old mascara can harbour bacteria that causes eye infections. Never share your mascara.

Evaluating the pH of Your Water for the Aquarium
When considering a new aquarium, the hardness and pH of your tap water is the first thing you should evaluate, once you know the characteristics of your water supply it will enable you to choose fishes that would be suited to your water conditions. Alternatively you will have to adjust the chemistry of your tap water to suit the requirements of the fishes that you choose.
The term pH refers to the power of hydrogen, and is measured on a logarithmic scale of 0 to 14. As you may have noticed pH is closely linked to water hardness, generally speaking, a higher concentration of salts means a higher pH, and a lower concentration of salts means a lower pH.
A pH of 0.0, the strongest acid, represents a solution normal in hydrogen ions (H+).
A pH of 7.0, being neither acid nor alkaline and considered neutral and having equal numbers of hydroxyl and hydrogen ions.
A pH of 14.0, strongest alkaline, represents a solution normal in hydroxyl ions (OH-)
You would need a thorough knowledge of basic chemistry to understand the true meaning of pH in water, and I'm no expert, so for our purpose we will define acidity and alkalinity in terms of the number of ions found in the water.
If there is an excess of hydrogen ions (H+), then water is said to be acid, if on the other hand there is an excess of the negatively charged hydroxyl ions (OH-), then the water will be alkaline.
Being logarithmic means that a change from pH 7.0 for instance, to pH 6.0 is actually a ten-fold increase in acidity, or a ten-fold increase in hydrogen ion (H+) concentration. To give a more powerful example:
pH 8.0 is 100 times more alkaline than pH 6.0 or a 100-fold increase in the negatively charged hydroxyl ion (OH-).
It is necessary to maintain a stable pH, and in the correct range, to keep tropical fishes healthy and colourful.
As a general guide, egg-laying fishes such as:
Tetras, Angelfish, Rasboras prefer a pH of 6.5,
While the live bearing species such as:
Mollies, Swordtails, and Guppies thrive at pH 7.5.
When keeping a mixed community of tolerant species in the aquarium you could have the pH at a neutral pH of 7.0
Excessively acid or alkaline conditions in the aquarium, as well as pH fluctuations should be avoided, it will cause stress to your fishes, and a stressful environment leads to lower resistance to disease, poor fish colour and poor appetite. Any changes made to the pH of aquarium water should be conducted slowly over a number of days to avoid stressing your fishes.
A minimum pH of 6.5 is sensible; filters are less efficient below this due to the reduced growth and survival of nitrifying bacteria. Species requiring a pH below 6.5 should have frequent water changes to prevent the accumulation of nitrogenous waste.
As mentioned earlier, pH is closely linked to water hardness, if your pH is high then it is probable that your water is high in calcium bicarbonate, which is an effective pH buffer, and acts against processes which try to change pH.
For this reason I use a commercial pH adjuster, which sets the pH at a fixed level. It then holds or buffers the pH at that level and fights against pH rebound (ordinary adjusters only temporarily change pH, and water can very quickly return to its previous condition, this is known as pH rebound). Unfortunately, there are a number of naturally occurring processes in the aquarium that can threaten to alter the perfect pH that you have provided for your fishes.
The filters task of breaking down toxic waste ends in the formation of nitrates, which are a salt of nitric acid and can exhaust the pH buffer and cause sudden drops in pH. This can be prevented with regular water changes (which are a part of regular maintenance anyway), which will dilute the nitrates; this will be more effective when coupled with a thorough cleaning of any accumulation of debris in the substrate.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is introduced into the water by the respiration of fishes, amongst other things, when this dissolves in the water it forms carbonic acid (C2CO3), this too can add to a drop in pH. Good aeration and circulation assist in the removal of CO2 into the atmosphere, and reduces its effect on pH.
The surface area of an aquarium should be wider than it is deep; this gives a greater surface area for any given volume of water, which aids the gassing off effect of unwanted elements, and is also greatly beneficial for the absorption process. The two elements, hydrogen and oxygen, are chemically bonded together and are not readily freed. Therefore, fish cannot use the oxygen that is in the water molecules.
Water is capable of dissolving many substances, and oxygen is no exception. Oxygen is constantly being absorbed from the air, by the water's surface and diffuses through it. Fishes utilise the dissolved oxygen from the water by means of gills; then excrete their carbon dioxide waste back out through their gills into the water. In this way gills are comparable to lungs.
Aerating your water with either air stones run from an air pump, or via the venturi of an internal power filter or power head will help in the process of oxygenation, the longer the bubbles take to rise to the surface the better the chance is of oxygen being absorbed from them. However, that is only part of the process; the slowly rising bubbles are also able to carry waste gases, such as carbon dioxide expelled from your fishes, to the surface and into the atmosphere, which in turn reduces its effect on pH.

Theres quite widespread idea that bathrooms are a space which should be nothing but just functional and that no effort whatsoever should be put into decorating the bathroom or making it a little more pleasant to the eye. Did you know that a person spends an average of three years of their life in the bathroom? At least thats what statistics say. So, if we havent considered changing your bathroom design, do it now. 本报讯 近日，根据国家工商总局对打击“傍名牌”不正当竞争行为专项活动的部署，北京市工商行政管理局，重拳打击涂料市场上的“傍名牌”产品，包括“英国华润”在内的涉嫌侵犯华润涂料“华润漆”商标权的“傍名牌”不正当竞争行为得到查处。 日前，北京大兴区工商分局根据举报，在大兴旧宫建材市场查获涉嫌侵权的“英国华润”涂料53箱。这些涂料涉嫌侵犯广东华润涂料有限公司所拥有的“华润漆”注册商标专用权和“华润漆”外观设计专利权，工商局执法人员依法对这些涉嫌商标侵权的“英国华润”涂料进行暂扣，并立案查处。
“华润漆”是广东华润涂料有限公司的注册商标，2006年，该商标被司法认定为“中国驰名商标”，同时，“华润漆”产品先后被国家质检总局评为“产品质量国家免检产品”、“中国名牌产品”。记者发现，在大兴区被查获的“英国华润”涂料在外观、包装、名称上都和华润涂料非常相似。致使众多不知情的消费者都误以为这是华润公司旗下的子品牌，这一“傍名牌”的行为严重侵害了广东华润涂料有限公司的合法权益。
据业内人士介绍，目前我国涂料行业“傍名牌”现象非常普遍，这些“傍名牌”产品的经营者大多采用地下作坊式生产，产品质量无法有效保证，很多是根本不符合国家标准的“不合格品”，甚至是“有毒有害产品”，严重危害了消费者的人身安全。
